Don’t Wait for a Talking Donkey — Listen for the Call to Realign?

Some of the changes in life can be hard to embrace, and sometimes it’s easy to get frustrated and just want to give up. But giving up isn’t the solution.

Often, those roadblocks are simply indications that we need to realign and shift back into where we’re meant to be. Sometimes, that’s the only way God can get our attention.

Think about Balaam. He was on his journey to Moab, so set on his mission that he didn’t realise he was walking straight into danger. The donkey he was riding suddenly stopped — refusing to move. Balaam grew angry and tried to push forward, but what he couldn’t see was that there was an angel standing in the path, sword drawn, ready to strike him down.

It wasn’t until the donkey spoke — until God literally stopped him — that Balaam realised this wasn’t frustration; it was preservation.

And that’s what God sometimes does with us. It’s not that He’s trying to frustrate your plans; He’s trying to protect your purpose.

When Balaam paused long enough to listen, God gave him new instructions — a different path, aligned with His will.

I know that’s not easy. Pausing can feel like failing, especially when everything in you wants to keep pushing and when part of whispers "what will people say?" But remember: it’s not failure until you fail to rise.

So this week, I want you to reflect on this:

1. Where do you need to pause — to realign, to listen, to let God redirect you?

2. Where have you paused for too long — turning your pause into a stop?

May you find the grace to pause, reflect, and restart — with peace, precision, and divine alignment.
