Beside Still Waters

13 April 2026
Scripture in this reflectionPsalm 23

I trust your week is off to a great start.

I started the week tired! Yes after long hours over this weekend I was just exhausted. Have you ever felt tired… but still unable to truly rest?

Not just physically—but deep in your soul?

This week, I’ve been reflecting on a simple line from Psalm 23:

“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.”

And it reminded me of something important—

Rest isn’t something we accidentally fall into. It’s something God gently leads us into.

From the very beginning, God created an environment where we could thrive.

The seas, the trees, the beauty and order of nature—all of it was intentional.

And throughout scripture, we’re constantly pointed back to it.

“Look at the birds…” “Look at the lilies…” "Listen to the animals..."

"The heavens declare..." "Observe the ants..."

To get powerful lessons because nature is great teacher.

I was reminded of a family holiday where were taking in the greenery, the flowers, the different colours—some with the funniest names.

But what stood out most wasn’t what they were called…It was how effortlessly they flourished.

There’s something about nature that quietly teaches us:

Growth doesn’t happen through striving. It happens through process.

A seed is planted. Time passes. Seasons change.

And in time, it becomes exactly what it was created to be.

But when we feel tired, we don’t always respond in the same way.

Instead of slowing down, we often reach for distraction. Trying to fill the silence. It might take the edge off for a moment, but it doesn’t restore what’s actually missing.

Sometimes, what we need is far simpler.

Step outside. Take a walk. Sit in the quiet.

Let yourself notice what’s already around you.

Because creation has a way of reminding us of truths we’ve forgotten.

So maybe this week, the invitation is this:

Let God lead you beside still waters.

Take a moment to reflect:

• Where have I been avoiding stillness? • What am I using to distract myself instead of truly resting?

You don’t need to earn rest.

You just need to respond to the invitation.

So return.

Rest.

And allow yourself to be led.

Keep walking. Keep believing. Keep becoming the amazing woman God already sees. Listen because nature is speaking.

Yours in walking and becoming,

Teim❤️
