The charger was plugged in, but... 🔌

A lovely new week to you.🌸

Something occurred to me this week as I reflected on that scripture that says, “Abide in me and I in you... Apart from me, you can do nothing.”

What struck me was this: the call was never for us to visit God when it’s convenient. It wasn’t an invitation to come around only in moments of crisis, or when we need relief, or when we want something. It was a call to stay—to remain—to be present.

As I pondered on this, I was reminded of something that happened a while ago. I had a phone charger that required me to do some gimmicks and make a few adjustments before it would charge my phone because it had some rough edges. One day, after coming back from a night shift, I plugged it in, did all the adjustments I knew usually worked, and went straight to sleep.

When I woke up, I realised the phone hadn’t charged at all. I felt like the time had been wasted and thought, maybe the charger had finally stopped working—only to realise that the wall socket had never been switched on.

That moment reminded me that the fruit of our lives doesn’t appear by effort alone. It grows as a result of connection and nourishment.

And that’s what I’d really like us to focus on this month of February—how connected we truly are to Him.

You know how a child sitting on their father’s shoulders suddenly looks taller, and the people around no longer seem as scary or as much like giants as they would if the child were standing on their own, or even walking behind their dad. In the same way, our perspective about ourselves and others, the strength we draw, and how we live our lives change based on our vantage point—and that vantage point is tied directly to our connection.

So this week, I’d love for us to honestly ask ourselves: Am I abiding daily, or am I just visiting to escape the stress?

Thank you for walking this journey with me.

Bonus Resource for You 🤍

I’ve created a gentle reflection tool called The Abiding Audit Tool to help you pause and examine whether you’re abiding daily or simply visiting when it’s convenient.

It’s not to act as a judge but a mirror to help you notice where you’re rooted and where God might be inviting you deeper.

Keep walking.

Keep believing.

Keep becoming the woman God already sees.

Yours in walking and becoming,❤️
