Is your heart still meeting Him, or just your schedule?

8 December 2025
Key reflectionWe start out enjoying God, lingering in His presence, expecting Him… But over time — through overwhelm, routine, tiredness, pressure — it becomes something we do instead of Someone we meet.

There are days when you give God everything you have — you pray, you sit with the Word, you show up — and yet… you still feel empty.

You close your journal and think, “I’ve spent so much time with God today… but it feels like I have nothing to show for it.”

I know that feeling too.

There are days I finish praying and would expect a marvellous day, but instead, life crowds in — interruptions, responsibilities, little fires here and there — and I’m left wondering, “Even after all the time I spent?"

But here’s the truth I have come to grasp:

That emptiness is not punishment. It’s an invitation.

A call to come up higher. A call to become. A call to stay a little longer, to lean in a little deeper, to be honest and unguarded in His presence.

And maybe this is the part we don’t always talk about enough: Sometimes we move from delight into duty without even realising it.

We start out enjoying God, lingering in His presence, expecting Him… But over time — through overwhelm, routine, tiredness, pressure — it becomes something we do instead of Someone we meet. It becomes measured by minutes instead of intimacy. By consistency instead of connection.

And when that shift happens, dryness follows.

But even that dryness is grace. It’s God whispering, “Daughter, come back!” He’s not pushing you away — He’s pulling you closer. He’s inviting you to return to joy, to presence, to stillness, to wonder.

Because delight doesn’t happen when everything feels perfect; delight grows when you allow Him to soften the places where duty has hardened you.

And here’s the truth I’m beginning to embrace:

The days I think I “spent enough time with God” are often the days He is actually expanding capacity in me, not trying to satisfy my expectation of what intimacy should feel like.

It’s not that He didn’t meet me — it’s that He met me in a way my emotions didn’t register yet. He met me in strengthening, in stretching, in quiet formation.

So if you’re in a season where you’re doing all the “right things,” showing up faithfully, and still feeling dry… don’t run. Don’t conclude that God is distant or partial.

You are becoming — even in the silence. Even in the emptiness. Even in the days that feel like “nothing happened.”

Those days count too.

Keep leaning in, sis. Your roots are growing deeper than you think.

Yours in walking and becoming,

Teim
