Are you running toward a Borrowed Finish Line

16 March 2026
Scripture in this reflectionProverbs 23:18

It’s another new week. Between celebrating International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day recently, we’ve had so many reminders of the beautiful roles we play in the world. But in the midst of all those roles—wife, mom, leader, friend—it is so easy to get lost in what it truly means to be successful.

Sometimes success feels like an elusive finish line; just as you feel you’re getting closer to it, it shifts again.

If I am being completely honest, the last few weeks have felt like I haven’t been meeting the mark—especially regarding my prayer and study life. I’ve just been so tired that I wanted to choose sleep more than anything else. In that season, my old definition of success (the way I previously prayed and studied) felt lost, and to be honest, guilt started creeping in.

But here is what I had to remember: success was never meant to be about arrival. It’s about continual improvement and refining.

In this season, I’ve had to allow myself to adopt a different approach. Success became writing my heart to God when I felt like I couldn’t say the words out loud. It became listening to the scriptures and writing my understanding when my eyes were too heavy to read.

Success is alignment.

And alignment is about becoming more of who God wants you to be—not your perception of perfection, but His. Every standard we come up with on our own will consistently fall short.

In this week’s episode of Reframe Her Worth, we’re taking a deeper look at: Who defines your expected end?

The Bible reminds us, "for surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off". (Proverbs 23:18). But if that end is defined by what we see on a screen rather than what God has spoken into our hearts, we will always be chasing a moving target.

Hit reply because I’d love to hear from you —have you been chasing a “borrowed” success lately, or are you in a season where you need to redefine what “meeting the mark” looks like?

Some questions to reflect on:

1.If success is alignment, not perfection. In this current season, regardless of how you feel, how are you becoming more of who God sees?

2. Think about the goal that is currently causing you the most stress. Ask yourself: Did God give me this finish line, or did I borrow it?
