What Story Are You Telling Yourself?
I hope you've had a beautiful start to your week so far.
You know, it's interesting how the same person can produce two completely different responses.
Two women can look at the very same person and walk away with completely different stories.
One says,
"If she can do it, perhaps I can too."
The other says,
"She's already doing it, so there's probably no place for me."
The woman they're looking at hasn't changed.
Only the story they're telling themselves has.
Sometimes we meet someone who is further along the journey than we are, and instead of seeing possibility, we see pressure.
Instead of seeing hope, we see proof that we're behind.
Instead of asking, "What can I learn?" we quietly begin asking, "Do I even have a place here?"
I've realised that many of the emotions we feel—discouragement, intimidation, even comparison—don't begin with what we see.
They begin with the meaning we attach to what we see.
Perhaps that's one of comparison's greatest tricks.
It doesn't just make us admire someone else's journey.
It makes us question our own.
But what if God never intended another woman's faithfulness to make you feel smaller?
What if He intended it to make your faith bigger?
Perhaps the woman ahead of you isn't evidence that you've missed your opportunity.
Perhaps she's evidence that the path you're walking is possible.
The question isn't whether there is room for another woman.
The question is whether you'll have the courage to faithfully occupy the space God has prepared for you.
Because God doesn't call us to become someone else.
He calls us to become faithful versions of ourselves.
So this week, when you find yourself looking at another woman, pause for a moment and ask yourself:
"What story am I telling myself because of her story?"
Some reflection Questions
Keep walking. Keep believing. Keep becoming the amazing woman God already sees.
Yours in walking and becoming,
Teim❤️
