The Danger of Unaided Steps
Welcome to a brand new week of possibilities. Just like that, July is slowly drawing to a close.
Last week was full of excitement and gratitude as Reframe Her Worth celebrated its first birthday.
Most children begin taking their first unaided steps around their first birthday. I still remember my first son walking around the park for the very first time on his first birthday. It brought a new level of freedom. He was no longer completely dependent on someone else to carry him from place to place. But with that freedom also came uncertainty as he stepped into unfamiliar territory.
Sometimes our spiritual lives are like that.
Even when it feels like we now know what we’re doing, it is still a season to trust God even more.
Every success is an invitation to deeper trust and stronger faith rather than drifting.
I have been watching a movie series from Mount Zion Movies, and one of the recent episodes left me with some thoughts.
To give you some background, the current episode follows a man who had been miraculously saved after a terrible past. Through God’s intervention, he was rescued from a death that had been planned for him by those connected to his former life.
Later, he decided to run for governor. Remarkably, he had favour with the people and found himself running against some of those same individuals from his past. But somewhere along the way, his confidence slowly shifted.
In his own words, he said, “I have defeated them before. I can defeat them again.”
He started ignoring warnings.
He started relying on the overwhelming support of people and surrounded himself with people who told him what he wanted to hear.
He spent less time praying and more time refining his campaign strategy.
He had started in the Spirit but was now trying to be made perfect by the flesh.
To be honest, I found myself convicted.
Lately, I have found myself relying more on my own ideas and strategies for my podcast growth. Strategy is not wrong. The truth is, wise planning is important. But this reminded me that we must continually examine our hearts to ensure our confidence remains in God and not in ourselves. So yes, plan and strategise, but let your trust remain in Christ.
Saul also started well but did not finish well because his heart posture gradually shifted.
Success can quietly tempt us to replace dependence with self-reliance if we are not careful.
I usually make my newsletter closely linked to the podcast of the week for continuity, but this is what I felt needed to be written instead.
One Scripture I have been pondering this week is Galatians 3:1–3. Verse 3 asks:
"... After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?"
That question is worth pondering upon.
I’d love to invite you to pray through some of the prayers I have been praying this week. I compiled them into a booklet, and you can get your copy by clicking the link below.

This week's podcast explores what it looks like to love others from a place of security in Christ rather than fear. If you've ever struggled with disappointment in friendships or wondered how to extend grace without becoming naïve, I think it will encourage you.
Keep walking. Keep believing. Keep becoming the amazing woman God already sees.
Yours in walking and becoming,
Teim❤️
