Are You Building From Nothing… Or From What Remains?
It’s so lovely to write to you again, and thank you for being with me through this journey.
As I reflected this week, I came to realise that sometimes it is the mercy of God that allows us to see what blocks are still left standing after life has shaken us. Not to frustrate us, but so we don’t wrongly conclude that there is nothing left to build with.
Because the truth is, even in seasons where life feels like it has knocked us down, it’s rarely ever empty ground.
Sometimes we just fail to recognise that we still have more than we think.
Recently, I looked at my Listen Notes ranking and realised that Reframe Her Worth was in the top 10% globally. And honestly? That surprised me.
Because if I’m being truthful, I had been focusing more on the fact that my average listening numbers had dropped a bit. I found myself wondering what had changed and whether I was still growing the way I hoped.
But seeing that ranking reminded me of something important: there can sometimes be a mismatch between what we think is happening and what is actually true.
Sometimes we call it “starting from scratch” simply because it no longer looks like the mountaintop we were once standing on.
But lower numbers do not always mean no impact. A quieter season does not mean ground zero. And rebuilding does not mean you lost everything.
And even when life seems to have knocked you down and out, all is not lost.
2 Corinthians 4: 8-10 is such a beautiful reminder:
8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body
Maybe this is your reminder too: you probably have more to work with than you think you do. Never neglect the experiences, learning and character you have to start with.
