Redefining Relationships Without Losing Love
Welcome to another exciting new week.
Friendship is one of God's beautiful gifts to us. It isn't a man-made invention; but was part of His design from the very beginning.
Interestingly, 30th July is International Friendship Day, making this a fitting week to reflect on one of God's greatest blessings.
As early as four to five years of age, children begin exploring the world of friendships moving from parallel play and momentary playmates to forming their first best friends. I watched a YouTube video about two women who had been friends for 100 years! What a beautiful reminder of the gift that friendship can be.
When I look back over my own life, I can honestly say I have been deeply helped and blessed by friends. Some have encouraged me through difficult seasons. Some have challenged me to grow. Some have prayed with me, celebrated with me and simply walked alongside me when I needed them most.
But we all know that friendships don't remain exactly the same forever. As we grow, our relationships often grow too.
Sometimes they become deeper.
Sometimes they need to be redefined.
Sometimes God brings new people into our lives for a new season.
Navigating friendships through changing seasons is not always easy, it requires grace, discernment and faith. The good news is that God doesn't just guide our personal growth; He also gives us wisdom to steward the relationships that accompany it.
It is also important that we remember that everyone in our lives is a carrier of an atmosphere. Jesus stewarded atmospheres by removing some persons before performing certain miracles.
One sentence takeaway from this week's podcast is:
"Redefining a relationship is not about tagging people as bad people. It's about being honest about how the relationship has evolved."
Abraham and Lot are a beautiful example of this. Although they went their separate ways, Abraham never stopped loving Lot. In fact, when Lot was in trouble, Abraham risked his own life to rescue him.
Their relationship changed, but love remained. As we continue becoming the women God already sees, may God give us the wisdom to know when to hold on, when to invite others into our growth, and when to lovingly redefine a relationship without losing our love for the person.
This week, take a few moments to prayerfully reflect on the relationships in your life. Ask God which friendships need to be nurtured, which people you need to invite into your growth, and whether there are any relationships that need to be lovingly redefined. His wisdom is always available to those who ask.
This week's episode explores how friendships evolve as we grow in our identity in Christ and how to navigate those changes with grace, humility and discernment.
I pray it encourages you.
Keep walking. Keep believing. Keep becoming the amazing woman God already sees.
Yours in walking and becoming,
Teim❤️
